    Description

Valley People Incorporated (and variants of the company), have long resided among elites in audio processing for the music recording and film post production industries. This mid-1980s Valley People model 440 originally shipped from the VP headquarters at the time in Nashville Tennessee USA. It uses the super fast, highly revered T-101 VCA. Along with other ingeniously designed components, it performs compressing, expanding, gating, limiting, clipping, and sibilance control, (a.k.a., de-essing). It does all these things marvelously well. To my knowledge, no variant of the 440 is currently produced. In the 80s, due to it's advanced design, the 440 was the extra pricey big brother to the well known Valley People 430 (a.k.a. Dynamite). As needed, I used a 430 for it’s beautiful artifacts, and the 440 for it’s beautiful compression-expansion transparency. Photos include an information and spec. sheet.
This unit is in excellent condition electronically, and cosmetically. Lots of interesting history for Valley People and the 440 can be found on the web. The VP 440 is a one owner item and includes the original box and manual. It works magic on vocals, acoustic guitars, basses, location film dialog/sound, and more. When pushed hard, instead of getting ugly, it gets artsy and interesting with characterful analog textures. I don't know of plug-ins that can do this stuff. There is a compelling drum processing demo for it on YouTube titled “Valley People 440”.
